Re-State of the Union 2013 (That's Just the Way We're Made)

Thanks to the grit there is much progress
men and women in grueling recession,
our businesses have created more American cars and less foreign oil, our housing market, our stock market, consumers, patients, and homeowners

ever
Together,

the rubble of crisis rewarded
full-time barely budged.
reignite the true engine o
It is our unfinished task
It is our unfinished task

The American people don’t
They don’t
But they do

reasonable compromise where America moves, must begin more than halfway
Now we need the question:
(couldn’t agree)
sudden, harsh, arbitrary education, energy?
They would certainly slow
a really bad idea. preventing only the cuts by cuts to
even worse.  Yes, we need and jeopardize secure—we can’t ask
We won’t grow forcing – understand
we can’t
They know
with everybody we’ve already made.

To hit
How?  How?
Now

spend less time and more time
a code that billionaires can’t pay
a code that lowers, and lowers right here

That’s what

I realize entitlement
None of us will get hurt
So let’s party our economy

reckless smart future.  let’s do it drifting
right now,

to keep open, pay too hard, for too long, hard work

Let me repeat – nothing
not a bigger priority
a magnet

shedding jobs 500,000 jobs

There are things we can do
Made in America.
we also have Every dollar our scientists are mapping
Now is not the time. Now is the time
today, American energy.
our own energy
Heat waves, droughts, wildfires, and floods –
We can choose a freak coincidence.  Or we can choose too late.  let’s generate even more.
keep cutting and speeding and issuing:
let’s cut all the ribbon-cuttings. let’s start right away.
What are we waiting for?  What’s holding us back?
Every dollar we invest
our kids
opportunities
right now and in the future.
most young people, skyrocketing costs, the chance to get ahead.

Real reform means we know what needs to be done.  As we speak,
We know discrimination fear poverty
That’s wrong.  That’s why no one and I actually agreed
it’s virtually impossible to get ahead.

We’ll work.  We’ll give.  And we’ll work. Stronger families.
the remnants we must enlist our challenges
We know. We know.  We cannot. That’s why.  We know.
I want.
These are the messages. – gay and straight.
We
We must all do our part – no – they can’t wait
We demand it.  democracy
matters little and anniversaries have been stolen just a mile away from my house.

every senseless act

But we were never sent here

That’s just the way we’re made.

This Folder Is Up To Date

oh you have deceived me or I have deceived you or whatever
this mishearing is the be all and end all and I will fall in love
with your voice despite the image of you I cannot
will not
oh fuck it all
when did I come to expect/assume a limitless supply
of anything? when did I come…
and when did I just hit refresh and pretend?

I can’t help your pants she said or when
did I come to expect this? to assume this indifference?
this mishearing is the end all and be all and I will fall
despite the ignominy and the pronunciation and the effect
I will fall deliberately
but of course it will look the same as all routine fallings
as all routine failings

you have deceived you and I have deceived me
or whatever
I can imagine some spiders on the floor despite the image of you I cannot
pretend anything for very long

IM Anselm Hollo 1/29/2013

This wash of fatigue makes the inevitable almost bearable because the edge
the edge was already lost/dulled/destroyed/forgotten/dismissed/dismayed/disbarred
so candidly (so fuck your chocolate bar) and all your other vague distinctions, vague distractions
Are you worthy of this geometry? are you worthy of this bullshit? (who wrote this?) some recently deceased
harmonica (oh those little poets) and I do not wish, but oh I do wish—

I wish I could find the evidence (I’ve changed my mind)
fuck those unreliable fuckers and take this instead
(I’m going to live like everybody else) all my selves, ensemble, grieve and drip
but this
This is the inevitable, the “this” rather than “the” or “that” but still the only almost bearable
edge
(smear)

The backdrop was torn and what shows through: another veneer of another veneer
you no longer need to see, say, pronounce, you no longer need
to find/seek/discover/impart/distinguish/
the edge                             the evitable                          you see

The edge

            was already lost
